From an amazing blog site BraveRabbit , run by Kerstin Barenbrock and Ingo Clemens, I discovered an amazing suite of plug-ins for Maya: iDisplace - Maya Displacement Deformer iDisplace is a deformer that iCollide - Maya Collision Deformer iCollide enables artist to deform and sculpt a mesh to create "collision" effects that simulate surfaces colliding and deforming against each other -- without the usual process of setting up a simulation involving soft body or nucleus dynamics in Maya. iSkinDeform - Maya Mesh Deformer iSkinDeform operates on  vertices of a skinned mesh, making possible the effect of skin sliding across muscles.
