First Post

Hi people.

My name is Patrick Woo. I am currently working in Double Negative (www.dneg.com), the largest visual effects company for films in Europe. I started my career in vfx in 2007 when I went to London for a year, then came back to Singapore to help kick start the Double Negative facility in Singapore.

I started my career as a matchmove artist in 2007 until very recently. In 2011 February I changed roles to environment TD.

So for more than 3 years I was a matchmove artist. I worked on show like Hellboy 2 and the Golden Army, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Angels and Demons, Kickass, Sherlock Holmes, Prince of Persia and the Sands of Time, Paul, John Carter of Mars. I was the matchmove lead for singapore in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and a co-lead for matchmove in Captain America. Here's my profile in www.IMDB.com.

Before starting in VFX, I was a regular in the Singapore armed forces, doing cg and motion graphics for 6 years. I was also an animator for tv series named Bottle Top Bill for season 2, in Southern Star Singapore. Most recent company I worked with before I went to Double Negative was Omens Studios I was a visual effects artist and compositor there.

On the freelance side I have worked on events visualisation, tv commercials and motion graphics. On top of that, I have given masterclasses in matchmove and rendering to students at the Lasalle College of Arts, and taught autodesk combustion to part time students at 3dsense. Finally, I have taught short courses in Adobe photoshop, premiere and after effects in primary schools, junior colleges and universities.

Education wise, I studied in Film, Sound and Video in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, part time CG / animation courses at 3dsense Media School, and CG Protege Animation School. I created a reel after the CG Protege that got me into Double Negative.
